Mails are being delivered almost everyday right to the mailboxes. Some mails are just ads and some are very important and personal mails. Just imagine if your locking mailbox can't be closed or locked for security purposes. This isn't good because it can cause you to lose important papers and mails.
Locking mailboxes are ideal most especially if you live in apartment or a place where there's higher concentration of people. It's not a deal of trust alone but the privacy you can have with lockable mailboxes. This also can protect mails from weather, not being blown away by winds or soaked by rain.
